How to make Sabudana Khichdi for fasting: Chaitra Navratri 2022 is here. It's a day to eschew grains, because ancient wisdom says that they burden your digestive system. If you are planning to fast on the auspicious day, here is a classic recipe to keep your hunger pangs away and to energise you throughout the day. Made with sago pearls, peanuts, spices and herbs, Sabudana Khichdi is consumed during fasting but also a great way to have quick snack on any regular day. It is light and filling. Try this recipe.


Serves 2
  • Ghee2 tablespoon
  • Sago2
  • cumin seeds1 teaspoon
  • Green Chilles1 teaspoon
  • Curry leaves6 pieces
  • Potato2 cup
  • Peanuts1/2 cup
  • Coconut2 tablespoon
  • rock salt2 teaspoon
  • Lemon Juice1 tablespoon
  • Ginger1 tablespoon


Step 1

Wash the sabudana until the water runs completely clear. Then soak it in ¾ cup of water overnight. Use a spoon to fluff the sabudana pearls next morning.

In a non-stick pan, add ghee, cumin seeds, curry leaves, chillies and fry until they leave the aroma and the curry leaves turn crispy.

Meanwhile, add the peanut powder, potatoes, grated coconut, salt and sugar to the soaked sabudana and mix it.

Add the sabudana mixture to the pan and stir on medium-high heat until some of the sabudana pearls turn translucent. garnish this with coriander leaves and freshly grated coconut. Ready to be served.
