When it comes to celebrity pasta recipes, few can outdo Gigi Hadid's unforgettable Vodka Pasta with tomato paste, basil, cream and vodka. It has gone down in the annals of famous viral recipes from celebrities, rivalling Jennifer Aniston's version of Cobb salad in popularity.
Now, it turns out that there's a new pasta recipe from the Hadid household and it looks promising. Bella Hadid is following in her sister's footsteps by whipping up a delicious-looking spaghetti recipe on TikTok. It has us salivating for sure.
The Hadids have been very open about their love for food as is evident from the sisters' social media profiles. Over the last couple of years, Gigi has shared many of her culinary creations through her Instagram account. These include pesto pasta, carrot cake, focaccia, monkey bread, banoffee pie, cupcakes, apple pie and more. Those who are curious could check the "From my kitchen" highlights on her Insta account.
Little sis Bella isn't too far behind, especially after she showcased her cooking skills via her TikTok account. She whipped up a delectable-looking spaghetti with garlic, basil, chilli flakes, prosciutto, parmesan cheese and pine nuts. She served them with a side of roasted veggies and pesto toast.
If you want to try out Spaghetti ala Bella, here are the steps and ingredients.
Bella Hadid's spaghetti recipe
This recipe could serve two ( or one, depending on how hungry you are). We have eyeballed the amount since Bella hasn't mentioned how much to add. You could adjust according to availability and preference.
Spaghetti one packet (200 grams)
Pine nuts 1/2 cup
Prosciutto 1/2 cup
Chopped garlic 5 cloves
Chilli flakes 1 teaspoon
Basil leaves 5-6
Parmesan shavings a handful
Olive oil one tablespoon
Salt to taste
1. Cook the pasta till it's al dente. If you want to know how to cook pasta as professionals do, click here.
2. Fry the pine nuts in olive oil. Keep them aside once they are golden brown.
3. Reserve the oil and fry chopped garlic and chilli flakes in it. The oil will infuse a nutty flavour to the dish.
4. When they are slightly browned, add the prosciutto. Mix well.
5. Add chopped basil and the toasted pine nuts.
6. Add the spaghetti with a bit of pasta water.
7. Mix well till everything is combined. Season carefully since prosciutto and parmesan cheese are quite salty on their own.
8. Put whole leaves of basil.
9. Top with shaved parmesan.
10. Serve hot.
The key to getting the recipe right is cooking the spaghetti properly. Always cook the spaghetti in advance by salting the water. Add the pasta only when the water comes to a rolling boil. Do not discard any of the pasta water, since they always give thickness to the sauce, allowing it to coat the pasta well.
Overcooking and undercooking pasta are equally bad, so check the chewiness of the spaghetti from time to time. Also, check the instructions for the cooking time. Since the pasta will cook further with the sauce, remove it from the heat 2 minutes before time to avoid overcooking.
