Ginger is a wonder spice. From times immemorial, ginger has been documented to offer several medicinal properties. There are also numerous health benefits -- it is anti-inflammatory, improves metabolism, good for weight loss, morning or motion sickness, perfect aid for cold and flu. For this reason, it forms the basis of various preparations in its various forms: dried and powdered, paste or raw-grated. Even ginger water is great medicine for the stomach and the intestine.

Ginger powder is one such wonder medicine that is easy to store and diverse to use, as it has a long shelf life. Dry ginger powder is widely used in Indian kitchens for its flavour and aroma. Ayurveda has been recommending ginger powder since time immemorial for various digestive and flu remedies.   • ginger

    500 grams


Preparation

Step 1

Wash the ginger properly. Peel it and dry it completely using a kitchen towel. Use the thick side of a grater to grate it.

Spread the grated ginger evenly on a plate and keep it out to dry in the sun for 3-4 days.

Step 3

After a few days, when it has completely lost moisture and has turned crisp and dry, use a grinder to turn it into fine powder.
