Indian actor Ajay Devgn famously stepped far outside his comfort zone during a 2021 appearance on the survival reality series Into The Wild With Bear Grylls. In a challenging sequence filmed on a remote island in the Indian Ocean, the actor was forced to confront a personal phobia regarding food consumption.

Devgn, who typically relies on cutlery to avoid direct contact with his meals, explained to Grylls that he struggles with the idea of touching food due to a fear that the scent will linger on his hands. When faced with the reality of the wilderness, where traditional dining tools were unavailable, the actor had to adapt to the survivalist environment.

Overcoming a Personal Food Phobia

During the episode, Bear Grylls prepared a freshly caught fish, presenting it to the actor as a necessary source of sustenance. Acknowledging the difficulty of the situation, Devgn admitted that the experience was a significant challenge for him. He eventually gathered the resolve to consume the raw fish, even joking that he was doing so for his survival while addressing his wife, Kajol, in the clip.

Grylls encouraged the actor throughout the process, emphasizing that survival often requires individuals to push past their established boundaries. After both men consumed the fish, Grylls asked Devgn to name his favorite restaurant in the world. In a lighthearted moment, the actor gestured to their rugged surroundings, declaring, "Here, right now."

A Disciplined Approach to Daily Nutrition

Beyond his brief foray into wilderness survival, Devgn is known for maintaining a structured and disciplined approach to his everyday diet. The actor has frequently shared his preference for simple, home-cooked meals over processed or junk food options.

His typical daily nutrition includes a protein-heavy breakfast featuring items such as eggs, oats, nuts, and fresh fruits. For his main meals, he generally sticks to traditional Indian staples, including dal, roti, rice, vegetables, and salads. Devgn has noted that he prefers a philosophy of moderation, avoiding extreme dietary restrictions in favor of a balanced and consistent eating routine.
