US Ambassador Sergio Gor Visits Historic Makaibari Tea Estate in Darjeeling

United States Ambassador to India Sergio Gor recently highlighted the rich cultural heritage of Darjeeling during his latest visit to the region. On September 9, the envoy shared a glimpse of his trip on social media, featuring a stop at the historic Makaibari Tea Estate. Embracing a local tradition, he began his visit by enjoying a cup of the area's world-famous tea while surrounded by the estate's lush, hilly landscape.

In his post, Ambassador Gor described the visit as an opportunity to engage with one of Darjeeling’s most iconic traditions. The Makaibari Tea Estate, located in Kurseong, is widely recognized as one of the oldest tea gardens in the region, with roots dating back to the 1850s. The estate has maintained a long-standing reputation for its premium tea production and its commitment to nature-friendly cultivation practices.
