World Idli Day: How to make Podi idli

If you are bored of eating regular idlis, you should try this flavourful upgrade -- Podi idli. A specialty of South India, podi idli translates to "powder idli," referring to the podi masala that coats these fluffy idlis. These bite-size snack is a lip-smacking way to begin your day. Here is a simple recipe.


Ingredients

Serves 3
  • rice

    1 cup

  • urad dal

    1/2 cup

  • poha

    1/2 cup

  • salt

    As required

  • baking soda

    1/4 teaspoon

  • lemon juice

    1 teaspoon

  • water

    As required

  • curry leaves

    1/4 cup

  • dry red chilli

    7 Numbers

  • sesame seeds

    1 tablespoon

  • chana dal

    1/2 cup

  • urad dal

    1/2 cup

  • ghee

    1 tablespoon

Preparation

Step 1

For mini idlis, soak rice, urad dal and poha for 3-4 hours in water.

Step 2

Cover the mix and rest it for 8-10 hours.

Add salt, baking soda and lemon juice. Mix well. Add water as per requirement.
