Dal Fry Recipe | How To Make Dal Fry At Home

Packed with nutrition & protein, Dal has always been a part of every Indian household’s regular diet. Dal fry is the combination of roasted Tomato and Onion with lots of Desi ghee and some spices giving your regular dal a zesty flavour!


Ingredients

Serves 3
  • butter2 tablespoon
  • garlic1 tablespoon
  • ginger paste1 tablespoon
  • onion1 cup
  • tomato1 cup
  • green chilles2 pieces
  • turmeric powder1 teaspoon
  • kashmiri mirch powder1 teaspoon
  • garam masala1 teaspoon
  • coriander leaves As required
  • lime2 tablespoon
  • oil As required
  • water As required
  • arhar dal2 cup
  • kasuri methi1 teaspoon
  • kasuri methi As required
  • salt As required

Preparation

Step 1

Pressure cook the dal with water till completely cooked through

In a pan add butter & oil and heat on medium flame. Put chopped garlic in it and sauté.

Now add the ginger paste. Cook for 30 seconds and add onions. Stir fry the onions till they are translucent and add tomatoes, slit green chilies, turmeric powder, Kashmiri red chilli powder, garam masala kasuri methi and salt. Add water & cover & cook for a few minutes.

At this point, stir in the dal along with some water if required. Bring this to a boil and simmer for 5-7 minutes.

Garnish with Kasuri methi, chopped coriander and lime juice. Serve hot with rice.
