Dudhi halwa is a quintessential Indian dessert made of dudhi or bottle gourd. It's delicious, decadent and easy to prepare. Here is a simple dudhi halwa recipe from Mansi Desai.


Ingredients

  • bottle gourd1 Numbers
  • ghee4 tablespoon
  • milk3/4 cup
  • sugar1/2 cup
  • almonds As required

Preparation

Step 1

Cut and peel a medium-sized dudhi or bottle gourd, and grate it. Reserve the water released by the dudhi while grating.

Take 3-4 tbsp of ghee in a pan. Once heated, add grated dudhi and the reserved water.

Add milk to the mixture and cook it for about 4-5 minutes till the milk is absorbed.

Add sugar and mix.

Turn off the heat and transfer the halwa into a serving dish. Garnish it with roughly chopped almonds.
