Jalebi has always been an all-time favourite sweet snack. Sweet in taste with a crispy texture and sugary coating, they are popular all across the nation & even internationally. A dish that originally came originated outside India is today a household dish anywhere in the country. Here's an easy recipe


Ingredients

Serves 5
  • water2 cup
  • sugar2 cup
  • cardamom pods3 pieces
  • lemon2 wedges
  • all purpose flour1 cup
  • baking soda1/2 teaspoon
  • water As required
  • oil As required
  • rose water2 tablespoon

Preparation

Step 1

To make the sugar syrup, heat water in a pan over medium flame. Add sugar, cardamom, rose essence & lemon wedges & mix.

Take maida and baking soda in a bowl. Add water. Mix well until it is thick but has a pouring consistency.

Now heat the oil in a pan over medium flame for deep frying. Fill the jalebi batter in a squeezer. Squeeze the squeezer to make concentric circles. Move from inside to outside to make perfect circles. Fry till jalebis are crisp and golden.

Soak the jalebis in sugar syrup for 2-3 minutes. Ensure that the sugar syrup is warm and not very hot. Now remove from the syrup and place on a tray lined with butter paper or foil. Decorate with silver foil and serve the jalebis hot.
