Navratri Special Instant Jalebi- How to make Jalebi

Breakfast and evening snacks across North India often accompany by jalebis. Indian households love the traditional Indian dessert. Crispy, juicy and delicious, jalebis are one of the most popular Indian sweets.

These are usually paired with rabri or milk to mellow down the sweetness of the sugar syrup. However, cooking a batch of jalebis is a cumbersome process. Hence, here is one instant and simple jalebi recipe for all sweet lovers.


Ingredients

Serves 4
  • sugar2 cup
  • water1 cup
  • saffron As required
  • turmeric powder1 Pinch
  • cardamom pods3 Numbers
  • all purpose flour1 cup
  • water1 cup
  • ghee2 tablespoon
  • fruit salt As required

Preparation

Step 1

In a saucepan, add sugar, water, saffron strands, turmeric and cardamom. Allow the sugar to melt. When the sugar dissolves completely, turn the flame off and keep it aside. Thickening the syrup is not required for instant jalebi.

For the jalebi batter, combine maida, ghee and Eno fruit salt in a bowl. Mix them well till the flour is coated well with ghee and becomes flaky.

Begin adding the water little by little. Mix the batter well until it gets pouring consistency.

Pour the batter into a ketchup bottle and heat oil in a pan for frying. Holding the ketchup bottle upside down, start making jalebi like patterns on the oil.

Fry the jalebis until they turn golden brown on both sides. Remove and add jalebis to the sugar syrup. Allow it to soak for some time and serve.
